ResumoOne of the most efficient methods of drilling rocks, used in detonations and investigation of the subsoil is the drilling rotary [1]. In this method, the diamond drills are the cutting tools applied, used to cut or crush the rock [2]. Nowadays the drills are produced with natural or synthetic diamonds, which are obtained by the HPHT technique. Because of the lack of natural diamonds and the difficulties in synthesizing of diamond HPHT, they are suggesting new technologies. The application of CVD diamond in the drills that cut the rocks was made in order to innovate the core bit production; therefore in the second technique the diamond is grown under smaller temperatures and lower pressures [3], consuming less energy and using more simple equipments. The diamond was grown on silicon substrate in a reactor of hot filament with 2% of methane diluted in hydrogen. The core bits had been constructed with diamond CVD. The silicon-diamond pieces had been synthesized with metallic league originating the abrasive matrix of the core bit. In the subsoil of Universidade São Francisco (USF) lots of tests were made with the core bits, in which they had been tested according to the cutting capacity. The perforated rock was one high hardness and abrasiveness granite. The grown diamond presented regular grain size and cover. So, it is satisfactory for the use in the perforation drills. The construction of the core bit was successfully carried through, and it was efficient cutting the rock.
